Unaccompanied Housing
Unaccompanied Housing (UH), formerly Bachelor Housing, is located on NWS Seal Beach and provides accommodations for approximately 50 personnel across five buildings. Rooms are configured for one or two residents based on pay grade and available square footage. Building 34 serves as the check-in point, and linen is provided upon arrival.
Most personnel in pay grades E1–E3 and E4 with fewer than four years of service are required to live in UH. E4 over four years and more senior personnel may be assigned UH on a space-available basis. UH residents enjoy convenient access to on-base amenities including recreation, fitness, and dining facilities.
Amenities
UH buildings offer comfortable, well-maintained living spaces with features designed for convenience and quality of life. Lounges are equipped with televisions, and washers, dryers, and vending machines are available at the Housing Welcome Center.
Advantages of Living On Base
- Safe and secure environment
- Close to work
- Utility bills included
- Free laundry facilities
Housing Welcome Center
The Housing Welcome Center can help determine your eligibility and housing options based on your assignment status and pay grade. If UH is not authorized or available, the Welcome Center can provide guidance on community housing and rental considerations.
Resident Advisors (RA)
Resident Advisors are senior personnel who provide after-hours leadership and support to UH residents. RAs sign a memorandum of understanding outlining their responsibilities in exchange for a room in UH. The program is voluntary and open to personnel in pay grades E5–E9, and E4 with Commanding Officer recommendation, including Geographic Bachelors.
For RA program details or to request an application, contact the UH Administrative Office.
Geographic Bachelors (GB)
Geographic Bachelors are personnel assigned to NWS Seal Beach whose dependents reside in another location. GBs receive BAH at the “with dependents” rate and are not normally authorized to live in UH; however, a limited number of spaces may be available.
GBs must submit an application for review by the Assignment Review Board. Approved applicants are placed on a waiting list and offered UH when space becomes available. GBs may also apply to serve as Resident Advisors.
For more information or to obtain an application, contact the UH Administrative Office.
